Huu-ay-aht First Nations entered into the gravel business in 2009. The gravel pit is on Provincial Crown Land and is operated under a provincial tenure, occasionally employing one hourly worker. In 2011, Huu-ay-aht First Nations renovated this pit to increase safety and improve operations. That same year, the pit provided more than 12,000 tonnes of gravel to a local sewer project. The HFN group of businesses is currently exploring other opportunities for the gravel pit.
